We have a new group of missionaries in the CCM now. There are three sisters and eight elders. They are a good group and we have had no problems with them. One of the sisters graduated from a private school in Altos de Chavon and all her teachers spoke and taught in English, so she is a great help to Hermana Larsen. One of the elders was born in the church. His entire family is members. One of the Elders has only been a member for a year, but the rest have been in the church for several years.
Last Tuesday, I went to the temple site and toured the project with Brother Prina, the person responsible for the construction, and it was interesting to see what they are doing. For example, the granite was purchased in Brazil, then shipped to Italy to be cut and polished, then shipped to the Dominican Republic to be installed on the outside of the temple. They sent a crew of Italians to do they installation. It is going to take about a year to put all the granite on the walls of the temple. The work was slowed down the other day because some thieves broke into the Italians apartment and stole all their tools. The temple should be ready the first part of the year 2000.
Ten of the eleven missionaries that arrived do not have their patriarchal blessings, so I made arrangements with one of the six patriarchs in the area to come here and give them their blessings. They really look forward to having this blessing.
I have the schedule for the year 1999 and our last group will come through and be finished by 14 December. I don't know if we have to stay here until the new president arrives in January or not. The time is going by so fast that we will be back home before you know it.
Well, saludos to all the ex-missionaries from Venezuela. We hope to hear from you once in a while. Bueno, sin otra cosa me despido con un fuerte abrazo
Presidente y Herman Larsen
