Thought I would write a few lines and let you know that we survived the hurricane. I have never seen anything like it. It is going to take months to clean up the country. Many people have been killed, and they are blaming the officials of the country on not warning the people in time for them to evacuate their homes. We have cleaned up the CCM [Missionary Training Center] with the help of the two elders who are here in training. We have a good generator that provides us with power. We also had a good supply of food and bottled water so we are going to be fine.
It looks like there is another storm forming and is going to take the same path as George. So we will start preparing for it now.
In regards to the family everyone is doing well. Dallas is in his last year of school and then plans to teach Spanish in one of the local high schools. Dane and Dean are involved with student life at Dixie. I can not remember if I told you that Dean was elected vice-president and Dane is on the student council. Danika is also in her second year at Dixie, and I have received permission for her to go on a mission when she is twenty. That will be next April.
Presidente y Hermana Larsen

Just a few lines to let you know what is going on down here in the Tierra del Buen Sol. It has been raining most every day, but that keeps the temperature down. This is the month of hurricanes but so far nothing has happened. I hope that it continues that way.
I was asked to speak at the La Romana District conference and after the meeting, a sister came up to me and asked me if I had a good memory. I told her "claro que si." She then asked me if I could remember her. Of course I was in doubt who she was so I told her she would have to help me. It turned out to be Hermana Lidice Tomasa Garcia from La Urbina in Caracas. I am sure that you and some of the others will remember her. She has been here in the Dominican Republic for a couple of years.
We have invited the couple missionaries to our home this evening to watch the BYU - Alabama game. Hermana Larsen is going to make pizza and we are all hoping that BYU will play well.
President McCoy of the Santo Domingo East mission needs a couple to come down and be his counselor. If you know of anyone, or if some of the other missionaries know of a couple that speaks Spanish, please let me know and I will pass it on to President McCoy.
Sammy Sosa of the Chicago Cubs is from a town close by called San Pedro de Macoris, and there is a lot of interest with the missionaries that come to the CCM [Missionary Training Center] about him and the home run race with Mark McQuire.
Bueno, sin otra cosa me despido con un fuerte abrazo,
Presidente y Hermana Larsen
