2 And behold, this is the thing which I will give unto you for a sign—for verily I say unto you that when these things which I declare unto you, and which I shall declare unto you hereafter of myself, and by the power of the Holy Ghost which shall be given unto you of the Father, shall be made known unto the Gentiles that they may know concerning this people who are a remnant of the house of Jacob, and concerning this my people who shall be scattered by them;

3 Verily, verily, I say unto you, when these things shall be made known unto them of the Father, and shall come forth of the Father, from them unto you;

4 For it is wisdom in the Father that they should be established in this land, and be set up as a free people by the power of the Father, that these things might come forth from them unto a remnant of your seed, that the covenant of the Father may be fulfilled which he hath covenanted with his people, O house of Israel;

5 Therefore, when these works and the works which shall be wrought among you hereafter shall come forth from the Gentiles, unto your seed which shall dwindle in unbelief because of iniquity;

6 For thus it behooveth the Father that it should come forth from the Gentiles, that he may show forth his power unto the Gentiles, for this cause that the Gentiles, if they will not harden their hearts, that they may repent and come unto me and be baptized in my name and know of the true points of my doctrine, that they may be numbered among my people, O house of Israel;

7 And when these things come to pass that thy seed shall begin to know these things—it shall be a sign unto them that they may know that the work of the Father hath already commenced unto the fulfilling of the covenant, which he hath made unto the people who are of the house of Israel.

Marion G. Romney:

Brothers and Sisters: If you will join your faith with mine, we shall now proceed to offer a prayer of dedication, to open this land of Venezuela for the preaching of the gospel.

Our Father Who Art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done here on earth as it is done in Heaven.

We, a few of Thy humble children, have gathered here this morning in this beautiful spot, to fulfill the assignment given to us by President McKay, to dedicate this land of Venezuela for the preaching of the Gospel. We humbly ask Thee, Father in Heaven, to look down in mercy upon us. Mark our presence here and let Thy Holy Spirit come and dwell with us. Give us utterance; give us the spirit of prayer; open our minds and help us to approach Thee under the direction of the Holy Spirit.

Father, we are very grateful to be here on this beautiful spot. We pray Thee to bless Mr. Manuel S. Nantaella who has given us permission to meet here in this beautiful garden. We pray that Thou will reward him for his kindness unto us. Open his mind, Father, that he may receive, at the proper time, the gospel; that he may accept the Book of Mormon, from which Brother Brewerton has this morning read some of the words of the Savior. Bless him that he and his household may be influential in opening the door for the preaching of the gospel in this land.

We are grateful, Heavenly Father, for the leadership of the Church today. We are grateful that President McKay and his counselors and the Twelve have seen fit to open this land for the preaching of the Gospel. We pray that Thou wilt be with them this day and that Thou wilt strengthen Thy prophet, President McKay, that he may ever be in touch with Thee, that the Holy Spirit may speak through him, and that he may direct Israel aright during all the days that he presides over us.

We are thankful for the assignment to come here to dedicate this land for the preaching of the gospel. We are grateful for the restoration of the Gospel in these latter days. We are grateful for Thy appearance with Thy Son to the Prophet Joseph Smith in 1820, in a grove of trees, perhaps not unlike this spot.

O, God in Heaven, bless this people here in this land, that when they hear the account of Thine appearance to the Prophet, that their minds may be enlightened and their understands quickened, that they may be able to accept the Prophet’s testimony and enjoy the blessings which will come into their lives by such acceptance.

We are grateful, Heavenly Father, that Thou didst send the angel Moroni to the Prophet Joseph Smith and give him the Book of Mormon, and that Thou didst give him power to translate it, and that we have this day a record of Thy people who in ancient times lived in this and other lands of America, North and South. We are grateful that we have that record. And dear God, we pray likewise, that Thou wilt open the hearts of the people of these lands, that they may recognize the Book of Mormon as coming from Thee, and as being a true account of their forefathers--that is, the forefathers of the indigenous people of this country--and that they may see in it, the record of those who lived here in the days of the Savior, and preceding and also following His ministry in this land.

Father, we are grateful for Thy power, which has been with the leadership of the church and with the people of the Church through the years, from the days of the Prophet Joseph Smith down until today. We are grateful that the Gospel has come to most nations of this America in which we now stand.

We remember, and call attention at this time to the fact that on Christmas Day, 1925, Apostle Ballard, who with Thy servants Rulon S. Wells and Ray L. Pratt, had come to South America under appointment from President Heber J. Grant, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, dedicated in general the whole of South America for the teaching of the Gospel. We are grateful for the success, which has attended the work of the Church in the South American countries from that day until today.

And now, Father, we are grateful that President McKay has seen fit to have the work opened here in Venezuela specifically, and that he has sent us here to open the door. And so now, by the power of the Holy Priesthood and pursuant to the appointment which has come to us, we do here, in the authority of the Holy Apostleship which holds the keys for the preaching of the Gospel in all the world, turn the key and unlock the door, and open this land of Venezuela for the teaching of the Gospel. We ask Thee to accept this dedication and this opening of the door, and make record of it in Heaven. We pray, Father, that Thou will bless the people and this land. They have lived in darkness through the centuries in this part of Zion. They need, O God, the Redeeming Power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that they may come out of darkness into the marvelous light of truth, and look forward and move toward that great day in the not too distant future when the Savior will return to earth. We pray that Thou wilt open their minds to the truth that shall be brought to them.

We pray that Thou wilt bless President Brewerton and his wife and their successors who shall preside over the missionary work in this land, with great wisdom, with understanding from on high, with direction of the Holy Spirit as to who they shall send here and how the work shall be done among this people.

O God, bless the membership of the Church in this land, some of whom stand here now on this hill with us on this sacred occasion, that they may rededicate their lives to living the Gospel; that they may teach the Gospel by their actions and in their conversations; that they may radiate such an influence as will impress the people of this land that they are led by something more than the wisdom of this world. Bless all the rest of Thy people here and all who shall come here, that from this very hour Venezuela may begin to prosper in accepting the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

There will soon come here, Heavenly Father, under the direction of the mission president, missionaries. Wilt Thou open the way before them and give them wisdom that they may know how to approach the people. Give them utterance from on high by the power of Thy Holy Spirit. Help them teach in wisdom and by the Spirit with such power that men in great numbers will be caused to listen and their hearts made to burn with testimony. Grant that people may come into the Church in great numbers and that the work may grow rapidly, Father, to the blessing of the peoples of this land.

We are looking forward, Father, to the day when the great promises made by the Savior during His ministry among the Nephites following Hiss resurrection, shall be fulfilled. Since the Book of Mormon is now being brought to the people of this nation-- the last in South America to be opened for the teaching of the Gospel--we know, from what the Savior said, that Thou art working among the nations of the earth to fulfill Thy covenant with Israel to bring them back to their home lands, part of them to Jerusalem, part of them here in the land of Joseph where the new Jerusalem will rise in its glory and where the ancient city of Enoch will return to the earth to meet the Jerusalem that shall be built in this land.

We are looking forward to these things, Heavenly Father, and we know that before they come, the Indians, the descendants of Lehi and other Book of Mormon people are to hear the Gospel. We know that here in Venezuela there are many of the peoples of the earth who have gathered from out of the old country to Zion, here, who are not of the descendants of Father Lehi. We pray that Thou will bless them, and bless us that we may gather out from among them, all the blood of Israel. But Father, hasten the day when we can carry the Gospel to the Indians themselves; when they will begin to have the darkness stricken from their minds and hearts and eyes, that they may be able to see the glories of the Gospel and come in, in mighty numbers. O Father, we know that from this time forth they will begin to come into the Church, and that Thou wilt work a marvelous work among them. Hasten it, that they may be prepared in the not too distant future, through the reforming of their lives by the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to join with Ephraim and the rest of Thy Saints in building the New Jerusalem in preparation for the coming of the Savior in these latter days.

All these thing, Father, we pray for, and all these thanks we give Thee, and render unto Thee the full gratitude of our hearts, and we do it all and make this dedication of this land for the preaching of the Gospel, in the authority of the Holy Priesthood and in the name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. Hermanos y hermanas: Si usted ensambla su fe con el mío, ahora procederemos a ofrecer un oración del esmero, para abrir esta tierra de Venezuela para la predicación del evangelio.

Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre. Venga tu reino. Hágase tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así también en la tierra.

Algunos de tus niños humildes, hemos recolectado aquí esta mañana en este punto hermoso, para satisfacer la asignación dada a nosotros por el Presidente McKay, para dedicar esta tierra de Venezuela para la predicación del evangelio. Pedimos humildemente que tú, Padre Celestial, mire abajo en misericordia sobre nosotros. Marque nuestra presencia aquí y deje que tu espíritu santo venir y morar con nosotros. Dénos la elocución; dénos el espíritu de la oración; abra nuestras mentes y ayúdenos a acercarle bajo la dirección del Espíritu Santo.

Padre, somos muy agradecidos estar aquí en este punto hermoso. Oramos para tus bendiciones para el Sr. Manuel S. Nantaella quién nos ha dado el permiso de reunirnos aquí en este jardín hermoso. Oramos que Tú lo recompense para su amabilidad a nosotros. Abra su mente, Padre, que él puede recibir, en el tiempo apropiado, el evangelio; que él puede aceptar el Libro de Mormón, de el cual Hermano Brewerton ha leido esta mañana algunas de las palabras del Salvador. Bendígalo que él y su casa pueden ser influyentes en abrir la puerta para la predicación del evangelio en esta tierra.

Somos agradecidos, Padre Celestial, para la dirección de la Iglesia hoy. Somos agradecidos que el Presidente McKay y sus consejeros y los doce han visto ajuste para abrir esta tierra para la predicación del evangelio. Oramos que Tú sea con ellos este día y que Tú consolidará a su profeta, el Presidente McKay, que él puede siempre estar en tacto contigo, que el Espíritu Santo puede hablar a través de él, y que él puede dirigir a Israel correctamente durante todos los días que él presida sobre nosotros.

Somos agradecidos para que la asignación a venir aquí para dedicar esta tierra para la predicación del evangelio. Somos agradecidos para la restauración del evangelio en estos últimos días. Somos agradecidos para Tu visita con Tu hijo al profeta José Smith en 1820, en una arboleda, quizás no desemejante de este punto.

O, Dios en el Cielo, bendice a esta gente aquí en esta tierra, que cuando ella oye la cuenta de su visita al profeta, a que sus mentes pueden ser aclaradas y su entiende acelerado, que ella puede poder aceptar el testimonio del Profeta y gozar de las bendiciones que vendrán en sus vidas por tal aceptación.

Somos agradecidos, Padre Celestial, que Tú envió el ángel Moroni al profeta José Smith y le dio el Libro del Mormón, y que Tú le dio el poder de traducirla, y que tenemos este día un expediente de Tu gente que en épocas antiguas vivió en esta y en otras tierras de América, del norte y del sur. Somos agradecidos que tenemos ese libro. Y Dios querido, oramos además, que Tú abra los corazones de la gente de estas tierras, que pueden conocer el Libro del Mormón como viniendo de Ti, y como siendo una cuenta verdadera de sus antepasados. Es decir, los antepasados de la gente indígena de este país. Y eso que pueden ver en él, el expediente de los que vivieron aquí en los días del Salvador, y también los días precedentes que siguen su ministerio en esta tierra.

Padre, somos agradecidos para tu poder, que ha estado con la dirección de la Iglesia y con la gente de la Iglesia por los años, a partir de los días del profeta José Smith abajo hasta hoy. Somos agradecidos que el evangelio ha venido a la mayoría de las naciones de esta América en las cuales ahora estamos parados.

Recordamos, y llamamos la atención en este tiempo al hecho que en la Navidad de 1925, el Apostle Ballard, quién con Tus siervos Rulon S. Wells y Ray L. Pratt, había venido a América del sur bajo cita del Presidente Heber J. Grant, en Buenos Aires, Argentina, dedicado en general el conjunto de América del sur para la enseñanza del evangelio. Somos agradecidos para el éxito, que ha atendido al trabajo de la Iglesia en los países suramericanos a partir de ese día hasta hoy.

Y ahora, Padre, somos agradecidos que el Presidente McKay ha visto ajuste para tener el trabajo abierto aquí en Venezuela específicamente, y eso él nos ha enviado aquí para abrir la puerta. Y tan ahora, por el poder del sacerdocio santo y conforme a la cita que ha venido a nosotros, aquí, en la autoridad del apostole santo que lleva a cabo las llaves para la predicación del evangelio en todo el mundo, damos vuelta a la llave y abrimos la puerta, y abrimos esta tierra de Venezuela para la enseñanza del evangelio. Te pedimos que aceptes este dedicación y esta abertura de la puerta, y hagas nota en los cielos. Oramos, Padre, que bendecirás la gente y esta tierra. Han vivido en oscuridad con los siglos en esta parte de Zion. Necesitan, Dios, el poder del evangelio de Jesúcristo que redime, que pueden salir de oscuridad en la luz maravillosa de la verdad, y miran delantera y movimiento hacia ese gran día el futuro cercano cuando el Salvador volverá a la tierra. Oramos que abiertes sus mentes a la verdad que les será traída.

Oramos que Tú bendiga al presidente Brewerton y su esposa y sus sucesores quién presidirá sobre el trabajo misional en esta tierra, con la gran sabiduría, con entendimiento del colmo, con la dirección del Espíritu Santo en cuanto a quién él enviará aquí y de cómo el trabajo será hecho entre esta gente.

Dios, bendice los miembros de la Iglesia en esta tierra, algunas de quién estan aquí ahora en esta colina con nosotros en esta ocasión sagrada, que pueden dedicar nuevamente sus vidas a vivir el evangelio; que pueden enseñar el evangelio con sus acciones y en sus conversaciones; que pueden irradiar una influencia tal como impresionará a la gente de esta tierra que algo la conduce más que la sabiduría de este mundo. Bendiga todo el resto de tu gente aquí y todos que vendrán aquí, de que a partir de esta misma hora Venezuela pueden comenzar a prosperar en aceptar el evangelio de Jesúcristo.

Pronto vendrá aquí, Padre Celestial, bajo dirección del presidente de la misión, misionarios. ¿Usted abrirá la manera antes de ellos y les dará la sabiduría que pueden saber acercar a la gente? Déle la elocución del colmo por el poder de tu espíritu santo. Ayúdeles a enseñar con la sabiduría y por el espíritu con tal poder que harán los hombres en grandes números para escuchar y sus corazones hechos para quemarse con testimonio. Déle a que la gente puede venir en la Iglesia en grandes números y que puede crecer el trabajo rápidamente, Padre, a la bendición de la gente de esta tierra.

Estamos mirando adelante, Padre, al día en que las grandes promesas hechas por el Salvador durante su ministerio con los nefitas siguiente el resurrection, serán satisfechas. Puesto que el Libro del Mormón ahora se está trayendo a la gente de esta nación – el último en América del sur que se abrirá para la enseñanza del evangelio -- sabemos, de lo que el Salvador dicho, que Tú estás trabajando entre las naciones de la tierra para satisfacer tu convenio con Israel para traerlas de nuevo a sus tierras caseras, parte de ellas a Jerusalén, parte de ellas aquí en la tierra de José adonde la Jerusalén nueva se levantará en su gloria y donde la ciudad antigua de Enoch volverá a la tierra a la reunión la Jerusalén que será construida en esta tierra.


Estamos mirando adelante a estas cosas, Padre Celestial, y sabemos que antes de que vengan, los indios, los descendientes de Lehi y la otra gented del Libro de Mormón debe oír el evangelio. Sabemos que aquí en Venezuela hay mucha gente de la tierra que ha recolectado fuera del viejo país a Zion, aquí, que no está de los descendientes del padre Lehi. Oramos que Tú los bendigas, y nos bendigas que podemos colectar hacia fuera entre de ellos, toda la sangre de Israel. Pero Padre, acelera el día en que podemos llevar el evangelio a los indios mismos; cuando comenzarán a tener la oscuridad pulsada de sus mentes y corazones y ojos, eso pueden poder ver las glorias del evangelio y venir adentro, en números poderosos. Padre, sabemos que a partir de este tiempo adelante comenzarán a venir en la iglesia, y que se marchita Tú un trabajo maravilloso entre ellos. Acelere lo, ése que pueden ser preparados en el futuro cercano, por reformar sus vidas por el poder que transforma del evangelio de Jesúcristo, de ensamblar con Ephraim y el resto de sus santos en la construcción de la Jerusalén nueva en la preparación para venir del Salvador en estos últimos días.

Todas estas cosas, Padre, oramos, y todas estas gracias que te damos, y rendimos a ti la gratitud completa de nuestros corazones, y la hacemos toda y hacemos este dedicación de esta tierra para la predicación del evangelio, con la autoridad del sacerdocio santo y en el nombre de Jesúcristo, nuestro Redentor. Amen.
