Comments: Dean L Larsen was born in Mesa, Arizona, to Elwood Earl and Lorna Miller Larsen. In 1954 he accepted the call to serve in Argentina Mission until 1956. He earned bachelor's degree from BYU. He married Leona May Robinson, and they are the parents of nine children.
In 1993, the Larsens were members of the Aztec 1st Ward, Bloomfield New Mexico Stake and President Larsen was serving as bishop when he was called to serve as the president of the Venezuela Caracas East Mission. He had formerly served as a stake mission president, a high councilor, a bishop and counselor, a seminary teacher, a high priests group leader, a Primary teacher and pianist, a ward organist, an explorer adviser, and a Scoutmaster. He was working as a teacher and coach.
In 1998, the Larsen’s were members of the Farmington 3rd Ward, Farmington New Mexico Stake when President Larsen was called to serve as the president of the Missionary Training Center in the Dominican Republic. He had retired from his position as a teacher and coach in the Aztec Schools of New Mexico. In addition to those callings listed above, he had also served formerly as a district mission president.
Sister Larsen was born in Richfield, Utah, to Attewall Bunting and Hazel Mae Roberts Robinson. She attended BYU.
In 1993, she was a ward music chairman when she received the call to serve with her husband in the Venezuela Caracas East Mission. She had served formerly as a Relief Society president and counselor, a Young Women president and counselor, a Primary president, a teacher and chorister, a Sunday school teacher, a Cub Scout Committee chairman and a Scout leader. She was working as a substitute teacher.
Dean and Leona Larsen also served as president and matron of the Lima, Peru Temple.
In 2007, they left on another mission. Their calling was to serve in Chile as the executive secretary to President Amado.
